| October 9th, 2010 Registration 7:00 AM Race Start 8:00 AM
| 24 Hour Option: The 24 hour option gives riders the opportunity to test themselves by riding as many miles as possible in 24 hours. Competitors will begin on a 60 mile loop around southern Christian County Kentucky. Each competitor must complete at least three circuits of the 60 mile loop before changing to the shorter 8.5 mile loop which they must then follow until the completion of the race. Riders may ride the 60 mile loop more than three times. Keep in mind however, that only miles verified at the checkpoints (located at the start and mile 33 of the large loop) will be counted - partially completed legs will not count. Drafting is allowed. | 12 Hour Option: The 12 hour option gives riders the opportunity to test themselves by riding as many miles as possible in 12 hours. The 12 hour racers will compete on the same course as the 24 hour group and will follow the same rules and procedures. Drafting is allowed. The time limit is the only difference between the two options. | Non-Competitive Riders: Riders who want to participate in the Little River Challenge to test themselves without taking part in the competition are also welcome. These riders may switch from the 60 mile loop to the 8.5 mile loop at anytime they like. We will still keep track of your mileage for you, and you may use all of the services available to the racers, including the meal. You just won't be eligible for medals. | Support & Checkpoints: Checkpoints are located at the start and at mile 33 of the large loop. Basic food and hydration support will be provided at these checkpoints in the form of bananas, energy bars, water and gatorade. Competitors may drop their own additional support resources at these points and may access these resources at any time. Additional unpublished checkpoints may be used to maintain race integrity but these points will not provide support. A complete listing of event rules can be found HERE. | Course Description: The flat to rolling course begins at the Lafayette Fire Station and loops clockwise to the north. A course map & elevation profile is available HERE. Cuesheets are available HERE (PDF format). A GPX file of the 60 mile loop can be downloaded HERE. New for the 2010 race the Lafayette General Store has agreed to operate extended hours to offer good hot food and supplies for sale to race participants. There are no shower facilities. Other than very basic support in the form of bananas, energy bars, water and gatorade, you should plan to be self sufficient. The ride meal proved to be very popular last year so we plan to have some type of pasta dish for you again this year - this is covered by your registration fee. There are plenty of stores, restaurants, and hotels both in Hopkinsville and at I-24 exit 86. The layout of race headquarters has changed slightly from last year. We feel that the new location amounts to a noticable upgrade over last years starting location. The new location provides better lighting, a place to store your gear indoors, a kitchen, and a place to get inside and out of the weather if needed. A map of the new layout can be veiwed HERE. | Registration: The advance registration fee is $25 per person. To get this discounted rate your registration must be mailed before September 20th. Download a registration form HERE (PDF format).
